Body Odor - Overview
Body odor is the unpleasant smell produced by the bacteria on the skin that break down the acids in the sweat. The one who has reached puberty can produce body odor, as this is when the apocrine sweat glands develop, which produces the sweat that bacteria can quickly break down. Men are more likely to have body odor, because they tend to sweat more than women.
Causes of Body Odor
Body odor is caused by bacteria breaking down sweat and is largely linked to the apocrine glands. These glands are found in the breasts, genital area, eyelids, armpits, and ear. Body Odor can be due to some medical conditions like diabetes, thyroid, kidney and liver dysfunction and genetic disorders.
