Malaria - Overview
Malaria is a disease which is transmitted through the bite of an infected Anopheles mosquito. When this mosquito bites, it releases parasite into the bloodstream, these parasites multiply in the liver before infecting and destroying red blood cells. After that the parasites infect the red blood cells, resulting in the symptoms that occur in cycles that last for about two to three days at a time.
Malaria Causes and Treatment
Malaria is caused by bites from the female Anopheles mosquito. An infected mother can also pass it to her baby at birth. It is transmitted by blood, so it can be transmitted through: an organ transplant, a transfusion and use of shared needles or syringes.
