Symptoms

- Red itchy rashes (usually start appearing first on chest or back and face then spreads)
- Fever
- Headache
- Loss of appetite
Chicken Pox - Overview
Chickenpox also is known as varicella is a viral infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus. It is highly contagious, a non-serious and self-limiting infection, but it can be serious in case of babies, adults, and people with the weak immune system. Chicken Pox infected person is contagious about 2 days before the rash appears and continues so for about 5-7 days or until all of the blisters have become scabs. It affects commonly in children between 5-10 years of age. It is very rare to have chickenpox infection more than once.
Chicken Pox Causes and Treatment
As said above varicella-zoster virus causes chickenpox infection. A person gets infected after being in contact with an infected person. The virus remains contagious for several days until all the blisters get dried and scabs have formed. It is spread through saliva, coughing, sneezing, direct contact with blisters and breathing in particles of the virus from the blisters or from the air around someone who is infected.
