Liver Cirrhosis - Overview
Cirrhosis is a slowly progressing liver disease in which normal liver tissues are replaced by scar or fibrous tissues. When Cirrhosis is in its last stages, it causes liver failure – a condition in which the liver fails to do any of its functions. It is a life-threatening condition, which needs urgent treatment.
Liver Cirrhosis Causes and Treatment
Liver cirrhosis is caused due to excessive consumption of alcohol, viral infections (such as hepatitis B, C viruses), heredity, autoimmunity, blockage of the bile duct, abnormal iron or copper absorption, complications of Fatty Liver disease, cystic fibrosis, accidental injury in the liver and other factors that damages the liver.
