Breast Pain - Overview
Breast pain also known as mastalgia is a common complaint among women. It can include breast tenderness, sharp burning pain or tightness in your breast tissue. The pain may remain constant or it may occur occasionally. This pain can range from mild to severe. Generally, breast pain is not a symptom of breast cancer. Severe, long-lasting pain can sometimes affect a woman’s daily activities which may cause anxiety and depression but this isn’t the case for most women.
Causes of Breast Pain
There are various causes for breast pain and tenderness that may be primarily related to hormonal. This includes puberty in girls, menstruation and premenstrual syndrome (PMS), pregnancy (during first trimester), during breastfeeding which is caused by milk duct that is not properly draining and becomes infected and menopause are the causes of Breast Pain.
