Varicose Veins - Overview
The enlarged, swollen & twisted veins are called Varicose Veins. Veins carry the impure blood from the body parts to the heart. Valves in the veins stop the backward flow of blood. When valves in the heart fail to do so, the blood pressure increases causing veins to swell and twist abnormally. They often show up on feet, ankles, and legs because they are farthest from the heart, whose function is to purify the blood.
Varicose Veins Causes and Treatment
Obstruction in blood flow, breakdown of valve system in veins, overweight, abnormalities in the veins, weak walls of veins, lack of exercise, maintaining same posture for a long time, lifting heavy weight, pregnancy, chronic constipation, urinary retention, interruption in blood flow due to surgery are the causes of Varicose Veins.
