Bronchitis - Overview
Bronchitis is a respiratory disease in which there is acute inflammation in the inner lining of bronchial tubes, trachea which is the main passage of air in the lungs. It results in the accumulation and discharge of phlegm. In order to expel this phlegm, there is a natural reaction of coughing, which results into Bronchitis. Bronchitis can be acute or it can be chronic. Acute bronchitis is of short duration and it is cured within a few weeks, while chronic bronchitis persists for a longer duration.
Bronchitis Treatment and Causes
Physical exertion, old age, continuous smoking, long term exposure of air pollution and chemicals, intake of foods and drinks that have drying effect on body, obstruction of the trachea by food particles, weak immune system are the causes of bronchitis. Another cause is suppressing the natural urges of body, such as passing stool and urine, thirst, hunger, sneezing, sleep, breathing, yawning, tears, coughing, etc.
